If you could capture the colors of the Hawaiian ocean in a gemstone, this would be it. This Indicolite Tourmaline was an unusual find; it usually is found in a deeper and darker blue. Set in solid 22 karat gold bezel and band, it is accented with granulation and a matching 2 point blue diamond. The gold for this ring completely hand fabricated in the purity need for granulation. One of the most ancient jewelry making techniques, granulation takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand and making enough for one piece of jewelry can take weeks. Each granule is then placed one by one on the piece with a tiny brush. The piece is heated almost to the melting point. At that precise moment, the granules fuse and become one with item being granulated. Look at museum collections featuring ancient jewelry and you'll recognize this technique. 22k gold won't dull or tarnish.
