Tanzanite and Wheat Ring

Size

Tanzanite was discovered in the hills of Northern Tanzania by Masai tribesman and remains the sole source of Tanzanite to this day. An extremely desirable gemstone, it can show two colors - blue and violet - depending on the way the light hits the stone.

This pear cut cabochon is set in pure 22k gold with a textured wheat pattern embossed in the bezel with a pure .999 silver backsheet to bring out the blue-violet of the gem. The stone has it's own unique "character characteristics" seen in the crystal structure of minerals like a fingerprint. It sits on a 6 mm wide sterling silver ring band.

The tanzanite measures 15 x 10 mm and weighs approximately 13 carats. Signed on the back by the artist.
