"I base
my enameled pieces on colorful, organic forms that seem to
float over pools of texture and light.
My love for combining color
is reflected in my cloisonne enamels which are based on organic
forms and fluid lines. In my pieces I "float" opaque
colors over clear, textured backgrounds; "tide pools" of
objects in water or natural forms against a sky. I take traditional
enameling a step further into an abstract approach.
The enamels are a combination of cloisonne
and baisse taille techniques. In cloisonne precious metal wire
is formed into cloisons to hold the enamel. Baise taille allows
a textured surface to show through transparent enamel thereby
enhancing the play of light across the surface.
Although the techniques are ancient my approach
is contemporary."
